Our Vision
We aim to build a more resilient, innovative, and connected community where traditional skills meet modern creativity, and where everyone has the opportunity to contribute their unique talents.
Skilled craftspeople mentor the next generation in metal fabrication and hands-on trades, creating pathways to meaningful careers and preserving essential skills
Young people discover their potential through creative problem-solving in both artistic expression and practical trades
The community can enjoy a space where makers can create, exhibit, and celebrate their work
Who we are
Tradeswork Arts Foundation grew out of the training that Jason Smith had been doing for years through his company Smithworks Iron & Design.
What started as Pioneer Day school visits and weekly fire arts classes with Waldorf students grew into a desire to share the love of blacksmithing in a greater capacity than Smithworks Iron & Design could sustain while keeping up with client work.
We started Tradeswork Arts Foundation in 2023 to create opportunities for more students to learn about blacksmithing through classes, demonstrations, and work study partnerships.
We also started Friday, a gallery space in Decatur, Georgia, to promote and celebrate the creativity of artists in our community.
We think there is a lot of magic in making something out of nothing, and we want to share that idea with the curious and creative. We hope you will gather with us and make it matter.
